As an illustrator, I am very inspired by rustic folk aesthetics and multicultural traditions and folklore. My work embraces traditional media such as watercolour and coloured pencil, and utilises their textures to create narratives that explore real or surreal concepts.
I draw on my Eastern European heritage and traditional aesthetics to contextualise my work as heartfelt and unafraid to depict difficult and sombre topics that require tact and sensitivity in their portrayal: in fact, the solemnity within my illustrations is an attribute that I actively pursue.
My visual inspiration is often drawn from nature, rustic architecture, and the human form. My thematic influences are often drawn from history, folklore, the nuances of daily living, and the vibrancy of different cultures. I strive to create work that offers authenticity, complexity, and a nostalgic atmosphere.
